WHEN CAN YOU SEE THE NORTHERN LIGHTS IN FINLAND?

  • In our opinion, the best time to see Northern Lights is actually September, October, and March, April. These are the months when the probability of seeing Lady Aurora is twice higher than in December, Not only the position of the Earth is better for the interaction of magnetic shield with solar flares, but the skies are less cloudy.

  • November to February are usually the busiest months of the year, however, the chances of seeing the Northern Lights are slightly lower due to snowfalls and cloudy skies most of the days. But there is always a chance (especially when you know where to drive). Keep in mind that not always Auroras will be dancing above our heads, they can be small and tiny like little bow.

BEST CONDITIONS TO SEE THE NORTHERN LIGHTS IN FINLAND

For anyone interested in seeing the Northern Lights in Finland, the main ingredient for Northern Lights viewing is that you need a clear night with no light pollution, which means we have to drive out of the city.

Sometimes it might be so, that Rovaniemi will be fully covered with clouds which is minimizing chances to catch Auroras during the hunt, that is why we might need to drive from 80 up to 200km only one way in order to find clear skies.

WHAT ARE WE OFFERING? SHARPEST NORTHERN LIGHTS PORTRAITS IN LAPLAND!

My aurora hunting tour departs from Rovaniemi. The tours are organized from the end of August until the first week of April on nights with clear skies. Every tour which I am offering is a small group only (from 2 to 8 people max).
If the skies are cloudy in Rovaniemi, I am ready to drive out of the city, and sometimes it means that we might need to drive for hours in order to find clear skies (80 to 200km).
Keep in mind that my tours are flexible and I would like to see the same in you) Sometimes we need to depart earlier, sometimes later, since it will depend on the weather forecast and Northern Lights activity. In addition to that, I do not provide BBQ, because sometimes we have to move places if the clouds would try to catch up with us.
The tour includes all edited photos from the experience. As well as pick up and drop off from your accommodation within 10 km from Rovaniemi city center.
